'Hymns of Christ's triumphal entry, resurrection and ascension.conducted by Paul Leddington Wright.' Paul Leddington Wright has been associated with the St Michael's Singers since 1978, having made numerous recordings together. He himself frequently performs as both conductor and organist for BBC Radio 4's Morning Service and also for Songs Of Praise. The St Michael's Singers were formed in 1963, shortly after the consecration of the new Coventry Cathedral - where this album was recorded. The choir have appeared with many top orchestras and maintain a busy schedule, including Songs Of Priase. An impressive resume - however, although impeccable, this recording lacks passion. Hymns include "Christ The Lord Is Risen Today", "Thine Be The Glory", "Christ Triumphant" and "Lift High The Cross". Overall, this is a highly polished performance and there is no doubting the talent represented here, however it failed to move me. A perfect Easter gift for Granny perhaps, or of course any member of your family who appreciates all things choral!
