"This CD is a collection of musical works that have been performed at Royal occasions in the re-built Coventry Cathedral since its consecration in 1962. It is, therefore, a celebration not only of the many Royal visits to the cathedral, but also of the 40th anniversary of the Consecration and Her Majesty The Queen's Golden Jubilee in 2002." That is what it says in the fascinating booklet and, you know, it is all true. Thus we get an interesting retrospective with many of the great names we would expect in such a collection (Walton, Handel, Rutter) and some with a local connection (Burt, Campbell, Jeffcoat). Enjoy the old favourites and explore the newer pieces, all capably performed.
