Fresh-ish off the worship album production line comes this output produced by 'City On A Hill's' Marc Byrd. With worship continuing to be a bit of a bandwagon on which to jump at least Sonicflood were recording worship back in '99. The trouble is that the band line-up for 'Cry Holy' is a far cry from the original. In fact, totally different. And as the initial record was utterly brilliant it is always going to be a hard act to follow.'Resonate' didn't really cut it, and neither does this. The songs are okay, with covers of Tim Hughes' "Here I Am To Worship" and Chris Tomlin/Jesse Reeves' "Famous One" included, but they lack the oomph of the original group. If the band had included with their complete change of personnel a complete change of name, it would have ended this endless comparison. And after hearing former frontman Jeff Deyo's scintillating 'Saturate' last year, all I can say is something along the lines of "chalk and cheese". 'Cry Holy' is soft rock/pop worship with good songs (13 in all) - but hardly cutting edge.
