Released on Easter Sunday of this year, this EP from Washington DC-based emcee Shyne On Me (real name Michael McLain) draws on the death and resurrection of Christ as its inspiration. Arguably only the first two numbers - the title track and "New Wine" - come close to addressing this theme but they do it with a great laidback soulful vibe (refreshingly made up completely of live musical elements) to allow the words of McLain and guest rappers ReGideon Peoplez and Jered Sanders to flow in leisurely fashion. The self-explanatory and very brief "Interlood" paves the way for the gospel-tinged closer "The Worry Song" which showcases what the inventive McLain can do with just a couple of electric guitars, a music box and some layered vocals.
