Teesside singer/songwriter Sharon Sewell rekindled a dormant childhood musical desire at the time of her adult baptism and, following a spell with Christian band the Disciplemakers, she has released her debut solo EP. Sewell states that her aim is to encourage Christians to be the people that Jesus calls them to be and the four tracks here tell something of her own relationship with God and the difference he has made in her life. Sewell's Amercianised vocal delivery is given strength by the musical backdrop created by Gateside's Broadwater Studios and the Ezekiel-based "Give Me A Heart" is the strongest offering thanks to those involved creating a more moody setting which provides some required depth to proceedings. Elsewhere, Sewell tends to rely on well-worn worship phrases like "all glory to you in the highest" and "Jesus is the way, Jesus is the light" and the project as a whole needs more development lyrically and melodically to achieve wider appeal.
