'Carry Away' is the duo's third album and (in America at least) the eagerly anticipated follow up to 2002's 'Psalms' project. Having listened to this album it's a mystery how Barnard and Everett are still relative unknowns but this is sure to change with this release. The central theme underpinning these 12 tracks is that God is the ultimate source of pleasure, joy and fulfilment. As with their previous releases, many of the lyrics are taken directly from Scripture although songs like "I Want It All" (based on Philippians 1:21) demonstrate a gift for taking truth and expressing it in new ways. It's difficult to pick standout tracks but the prayerful "Be Near" and the upbeat "Song Of Surrender" are the ones which are indelibly lodged in my brain right now. My only criticisms of this album are that some of the later tracks tend to drift as the pace slows and the guitar heavy remix of "Be Near" sits uncomfortably with the rest of the tracks. Overall, I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for a challenging and thought provoking worship album, especially fans of Caedmon's Call, Third Day and early Jars Of Clay. Tight instrumentation, passionate vocals and subtle production make this an album which really stands out from the pile.
