On his website Scott describes one of his biggest influences as being Elton John. As a big fan of Elton in the ‘70s and ‘80s (my first live gig as a schoolboy was seeing Elton on his 1973 Goodbye Yellow Brick Road tour with Kiki Dee!) I have to admit that I was greatly looking forward to listening to this CD. Sadly though, I was very disappointed. Whilst the influences of the pianist from Pinner are discernable (just!) this is for the most part barely distinguishable from the morass of slick but totally bland multitude of mass produced albums that come out every year to provide fodder for the mass of equally bland radio stations dotted throughout the United States. What’s more at only 38 minutes long this is a woefully short album compared to the hour plus that is the standard these days.
