Here is a singer/songwriter who has seen his songs recorded by many other artists in the Nashville scene and this isn't his first solo album. However it is his best yet. Bogged down in the quagmire of the CCM scene in "nash-vegas", he returned to home territory to live in Seattle last year and the musical results are pleasing. Shaking off the shackles of creating radio friendly AC pap, he's actually recorded an album that combines his pop sensibilities with a little more bite and a lot less sugar. From the first distorted bass note of the opener "Gentle Revolution", you know this is different. Other highlights include "Renee", a song written for Ms Zellweger who popped into a Starbucks where Scott was enjoying a coffee. The encounter spawned a song wondering about her celebrity life. "I Am Jesus" is another powerful song where Krippayne adopts the voice of Christ to address the listener. Scattered amongst these highlights however are a few songs that are okay but nothing earth shattering. It's the work of a consummate professional songwriter and where he sparkles, this is excellent but unfortunately there are a few filler tracks that cause a cloud of disappointment to float across my heart.
