This is the Nashville-based singer/songwriter's third album and I'm ashamed to say I missed the first two as clearly the lass is a huge talent with a vulnerable, achingly poignant voice that sounds like a cross between Emmy Lou Harris and Julie Miller. Her songwriting too is pure class with traces of Jackson Browne and Shawn Colvin influences and an articulate and poetic way with lyrics you'd expect from an English literature major. The first single from this set is a jangly pop song of near perfection while something about "No More Tears" reminds me of Sarah Masen. There's one unexpected cover, a surprisingly effective rendition of the lachrymose Peter Sarsted '60s hit "Where Do You Go To My Lovely" while her own "Son's Of Cain" with its biblical imagery and ethereal harmonies grow on one with every play. Good, stripped down pop production too from Peter Collins (Alice Cooper, Indigo Girls). Another excellent mainstream artist deserving of support.
