This is Sandy's 30th studio album and in that time she has established herself as a singer with a truly outstanding voice and this CD bears testament to that. However, the songs featured here, representative of her own spiritual journey, are, for me, a mixed affair. The producer David Hamilton seems to like big, some would say OTT, arrangements with opening song, the well known hymn "Praise To The Lord The Almighty", a classic example with a relatively quiet start building to a big crescendo. Not a problem in itself but I found the crescendos too overblown, and it's the same format every time. There are a number of just mediocre tracks too, like the Whitney Houston-styled "Through It All" and the final medley. Thankfully, there are some real gems that show Patti's talents, the jazz/blues style "My Tribute", the even better Southern gospel inspired "For Good" and the duet with her husband, Don Peslis, "Panis Angelicus" which shows Patti's operatic qualities. Overall though, it's a frustrating album with lots of highs and lows and I think Patti's fabulous voice deserves something more consistent.
