Sanctus Real have survived what is often the death knell for bands with a sound so dependent on the vocals - the change of lead singers. With 'Changed' they have delivered an album with clear pop sensibilities. That is "pop" in a boy band style (although the photos show that they're not boys) and you can almost visualise the dance moves on the up-tempo numbers and the arms waving on the ballads. Thematically it's not shy of its faith so at times sails very close to modern worship (similar to Rend Collective, for example), pulling back every time you think that's where it's going. "Survival" has a Rag 'n' Bone Man-styled melody, although unfortunately delivered with more rock and less soul than the pop hero would have delivered. Similarly, "Hello Love" has an Ed Sheehan type of melody. Sanctus Real's new singer, Dustin Lolli, reminded me at times of Third Day's Mac Powell, which is no bad thing, and is very well supported by the backing vocals and the entire band. The arrangements are clear, with just the right level of complexity and dynamics ("Hide And Seek" is a great example of this). "My Hope Is In The Lord" has a country rock feel with an very singable chorus. All in all, an enjoyable pop rock album.

Product Description
Change, particularly unexpected change, can sometimes be a foundational crack that causes the whole structure to come tumbling down. Survival, it turns out, depends on what you do with the rubble. After 20 years of touring, 24 radio hits and full album sales exceeding 750,000, Sanctus Real is back with their highly anticipated new album, Changed - and introducing new lead singer Dustin Lolli.
Over 2 years in the making and in collaboration with multiple award winning producers and songwriters, changed is undoubtedly Sanctus Real's most passionately resonating effort in years.
Life is, whether good or bad, a series of unexpected moments. With Changed, the band communicates that nothing's ever a lost cause in the kingdom of Heaven. Stripping away what was and getting down to the one things that matters has given the band a new voice and solidified the purpose behind it.
