I guess it was inevitable that the extremely talented Salvador would eventually create a Spanish language album to accompany their established Latin pop grooves. They have a reputation for having one of the hottest live acts in American Christian music and like Jaci Velasquez now have an eye for a crossover. And undoubtedly this is a hot selection where they have combined some new songs with re-workings of the best of their earlier albums including a scorching "Ante Tu Presencia". If you're a fan of Latin music you'll absolutely have to go for this with its tight grooves, explosive horn stabs and upbeat totally danceable songs at one end of the spectrum and the acoustic stripped down sensitive ballads at the other. There's even a lovely duet with Vincente Montano on "Un Dia A La Vez" which I was really enjoying when I suddenly realised it was the old Lena Martell song "One Day At A Time". Ooops! The band's Nic Gonzales has developed into a skilful and charismatic singer and 'Con Poder' will definitely find a place in the hearts of the tiny selection of fans of Christian Latin music in this country.
