London-based husband and wife duo Ben and Anita Tatlow describe their sound as "reflective music with an electronic edge" and their debut album sees the pair offer up their own brand of gentle electronica whilst allowing ample space for listeners to reflect on their own relationship with God. By using an array of synth washes and ambient electronic effects, producer and percussionist Ben has wisely kept things sparse to ensure that Anita's wistful vocals aren't lost in the mix and tracks such as the haunting opener "Free" and the Dido-like "Coming Home" showcase the pair's ability to offer up something accessibly experimental. Salt Of The Sound are at their best when pushing the minimalist boat out and pieces such as "I'll Wait", "Listen" and the pulsing instrumental "Reflections" are arguably more spiritually affecting than the self-explanatory and fuller "If This Is You Speaking" and the somewhat laboured reworking of "This Little Light". The uplifting "Give Me A Moment" closes a delightfully ethereal and unquestionably strong first album from this intriguing duo.
