Stockholm-based husband and wife duo of Ben and Anita Tatlow aim to create songs that encourage spiritual reflection both in church environments and in times of personal quiet. Their music merges ambient and meditational electronica with Celtic themes and melody. This mini-album 'In Prayer' has seven tracks and runs only to some 17 minutes and seems to be designed as a guide into some deeper meditation. The project opens with "Be Still My Soul" and sets a contemplative scene with the use of gentle keyboards and Anita's distant vocal. It is obviously mood setting and meant to generate that inner calm you need to secure for prayer. "Lamb Of God" uses a simple keyboard line to dramatize a luscious vocal prayer that is repeated mantra-like and leads into deeper reflection. This is followed by "Refuge" is an instrumental track and used as a restful source of introspection for the message of the track before. Likewise, the next two instrumental tracks "Solace" and "Rest" are designed to enhance that sense of inner peace and the ethereal vocal on the closer "You Ways" flawlessly maps out a pilgrimage to follow in the footsteps of the Almighty. 'In Prayer' with its atmospheric textures and subtle vocal choruses will indeed help many seeking to find a deeper connection with the Lord.
