But after much debate in Cross Rhythms Editorial, we finally decided that our Yuletide Pick Of The Pile was for Russ Taff and his album A Christmas Song (Sparrow 1338). Maybe it's because we were all gaga for that wheezingly bluesy voice, maybe it was because there was such a clever blend of smaltz ("White Christmas", "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas") and the worshipful ("Angels We Have Heard On High"). But somehow it worked. We nearly didn't get to review this one at all. Our burglar stole the first copy!
