Russ is the worship leader at St Luke's Church in Maidstone and this album was realeased, with little fanfare, by Alliance Music in 2000. Cross Rhythms didn't help the low publicity situation - through an admin error we failed to review it. But now it's been re-released with a new cover (complete with lyrics and chords) largely because the title track has been picked up by Spring Harvest. "Holy Mountain" is indeed a catchy, mid tempo praise song very much in Matt Redman style. Here and elsewhere producer Paul Burton is able to give the live recordings a snappy pop feel - warbling Hammond, a bright mix and some soulful interjections from Esther Alexander. Russ isn't the most expressive singer you've heard, but with Scripture-based lyrics and memorable lyrics, this is an engaging debut.
