At times, when a major name in the music scene announces that he/she has become a Christian, there are fears that the quality of their music will suffer. While these fears are sometimes justified (compare Bernard Wright's previous works to his 'Fresh Hymns' albums, or Philip Bailey's gospel records to EWF's back catalogue and you'll see what I mean), old Run-DMC fans need not worry - the stuff on offer here is as good as anything they've done before. The production credits read like a Who's Who of hip hop; EPMD, Hank Shocklee's Bomb Squad and Naughty By Nature are just a few of the big names who chip in their dime's worth. But, the question CR readers want answered is, "is it a Christian album?". The answer is no and yes; it won't be found next to DC Talk and PID in your local CLC bookshop, and sometimes they do push the limits a bit, but it's a cut above others of its ilk (for a start, it doesn't have that dreaded warning sticker on it, which is a plus in itself). Those looking for a gospel message will find it in "To The Maker" and the title track; those looking for a good beat won't have too much searching to do.
