One of those intros guaranteed to build up the excitement, technicians furiously preparing for the big gig, horn section rehearsing and interview fragments with such as Matthew Ward, Alex Acuna and Don Moen telling us that 4,000 people are coming and God is going to do something special. Amazingly enough he does. From the moment Ron gets the "sophisticated handclappers" in the choir and audience doing a series of polyrhythms to the triumphant close when Ron, choir, orchestra and that astonishing rhythms section of Abraham Laboriel, Alex Acuna and Chester Thompson take it to the heavenlies there is a joyful sense of real praise throughout this celebration recorded at the Atlanta Civic Centre. The blend of(black) gospel and (white) praise and worship is masterly and an audience/congregation so truly multi-racial speaks prophetically to a church still unnecessarily divided on racial lines.
