'Jerusalem Joy' is a musical, narrated by Michelle Guinness and written by Roger Jones, about the centre point of Christianity. It retells the famous series of events from Palm Sunday to the resurrection on Easter Sunday. The whole sound and atmosphere of the recording conjure up to me the traditional church and school musicals which we have all been involved in at some point. I could almost visualise it. Some of the melodies have that 'jolly' toe-tapping feel that musicals have, others at more dramatic points have theatrical undertones. Overall, I did enjoy listening to the tracks, particularly the instrumental bonus tracks by Tim Jones, which strayed away from the traditional feel the CD had to a more contemporary style. If you are not a great musical fan then this is not for you. But if you do enjoy the work of Birmingham's musical pioneer, you may want to investigate.
