Composer Robin Hagues from Oxford has assembled an impressive bunch of singers and musicians to perform his worship songs and hymns. They vary in quality with Mike Houghton's superlative sax much featured. But the singers Ronnie Barham and Lisa Petersen don't impress with Lisa's voice sounding thin on the upper register while Robin's songs are hardly exceptional and too often sound stylised, dated or both. One rather good jazz-styled song, excellent sound quality and impressive sleeve design couldn't hide the fact that most of the material and performances here give off an air of stilted religiosity. Uncomfortable listening.
