Ever since Salford's Jonathan Ogden launched Rivers & Robots in 2010, Cross Rhythms have been playing their evocative music on the radio, praising the band's ability to make worshipful sounds that don't fall into the unfortunate cliches of some pop rock worshippers, and exhorting our readers to investigate this most talented bunch of musicians. Now, with an instrumental set 'Still Vol 1' getting a big record label push, we're offering a belated note to the effect that this 2016 release is well up to the band's creative standards. The two radio play standouts are "Wait For You" which has a slight touch of psychedelia about it and the outstanding worship song "A Love That Carries Me" while throughout Rivers & Robots' deft blend of electronica/alternative and indie/folk make for a mellow, atmospheric album which will only increase their fan base. "To The Highest Place" is a haunting piece of piano led worship while "Who Is like Our God" vaguely resembles Bon Iver's "Holocene". Throughout the lyrics constantly reflect on the lovingkindness of our Lord. A heartwarming release.
