For me, Rita's forte is pianoforte and her voice - a lovely lilting mellow, pop contralto. As good as this 10 track live production is at the Anaheim Vineyard, timing and instrument choice are often not commensurate with what Rita does musically. The sometimes Reeves and Mortimer intonation of her singing - "Freedoorm Reigns" - is, however, more than compensated by her excellent writing and performance. And when a sympathic injection of Irish acoustics wafts in, then Rita has set her stage in order. Particularly worthy of note are the cleverly engineered backing vocals, Eli Thomson's enigmatic bass work and Beth Balmer's Gallic infusion of violin, flute, whistles and voice.
