This album is billed as a legacy of Richard Smallwood, who has become a major figure in gospel. The songs included are from his four albums, ‘Vision’ from 1998, ‘Portrait’ from 1990, ‘Testimony’ from 1992, and the 1994 album, ‘Live’. Although my musical tastes veer elsewhere, I have been blessed by some songs on this CD. The standout track for me is the groovy, horn-laden, joyful funkiness that is “What He’s Done For Me”. Proclaiming God’s goodness and grace to us is one of the many things CCM/gospel music should be about. Other great tracks are “We Magnify Your Name”, another foot-stomper; the worshipful “The Glory Of The Lord” and “Centre Of My Joy” which was covered by another gospel/praise and worship great, Ron Kenoly, on his ‘Welcome Home’ album. This album will be a blessing to any fans of black gospel, or those just looking for a different worship experience.
