Attentive readers of Cross Rhythms and album sleeve notes will already know Richard as one of the founder members of Celtic worship team Loose Goose, but this is a very different kettle of fish (or should that be geese?). A personal rock-based run through a myriad of styles, which by Richard's own sleeve note admission takes in "rock and funk to quiet ballad with reggae, bossa nova and more thrown in for good measure." Also by his own admission, "the budget was low" but despite the somewhat boxy sound of a cheap and cheerful 16 track, the sheer passion of Richard's performances, some tasty contributions from drummer Mike Strugls and keys man/guitarist/producer Patrick Wood keep a bluesy relaxed groove going throughout. The intriguing songs are intended to "bridge the gap between the old life and the new, between street and church" and if the street along which you walk resonates with the timeless echoes of '70s/'80s blues rock, this gutsy album will hit the button.
