I don't know what it is but the more I listen to the new albums in this genre, the less I am moved. The band here is seriously tight, recording quality is good but it just didn't connect with me. perhaps it's because the songs (although well arranged, as we come to expect from Rev Brunson) are becoming more and more samey, or perhaps it's because the arrangements are so slick, I don't know. Being a live album, it does catch a certain 'feel', a certain emotion that some of today's studio albums lack, but unfortunately the trade off is some out-of-tune vocals which definitely (at one highly noticeable point during "Keep Your Loving Arms Around Me") detracted from my enjoyment of this album. By no means do I hate or totally disregard this album, it's very hard to do that in the light of some astonishing musical interplay in the rhythm section and the fact that the Rev and his entourage have been doing this for so long. My comments, as with all reviewers, are subjective to my own personal viewpoints so there is always the possibility that you might think that this album is the best thing since Blackburn won the Premiership! If you think you might, then get your crinkly blue folding stuff out.
