The Rand is still pretty good value judging from this video. This concert celebrates Randy's 20 years in the business and is a celebration of the man as much as the music. This would limit its interest to newcomers but is good news for fans. Randy Stonehill is a gifted singer, writer, guitarist and a regular guy. However, he spreads himself a bit thin on this acoustic set and doesn't play any of his brilliant early material (earliest songs 1983). The more serious songs get lost in the light-hearted between-songs banter but the playing and singing is excellent. Of the new material, "Faithful" and "Breath Of God" look like becoming standards but songs such as "Shut De Do" and "American Fast Food" seem out of place here. The tribute from Amy, Pat etc are cringe worthy and intrusive: Why not a bit of archive material of the man himself in top gear with the band? Griping aside, the man has proved to be a consummate artist and the future bodes well for him judging by the new songs showcased here.
