  I met Ralph at Cross Rhythms ’96, and he showed us then why he’s so popular in his native Holland.  Although he’s been around for what seems like ages, his reputation as a songwriter is on the up and up, due in no small part to his collaboration with both Paul Field and Chris Eaton, finding their way onto recent releases by Avalon and Jaci Velasquez.  Ralph knows how to write a catchy melody, and whilst he sometimes needs a little help from his friends with the lyrics, the results are excellent.  This particular album sees Ralph and his band in Nashville, drawing on the skills of some top sessioners (Steve Brewster, Chris Rodriguez, David Hodge, Mark Hill), and David’s other half Carrie (they used to be Two Hearts) turns up duetting on the title track.  Couple of strong melodies and lyrics (including some by Paul Field and Phil Thomson) with a tight band and Ralph’s slightly rasping but expressive voice and a very good album results.  Recommended.
