Originally from Birmingham, up and coming singer/songwriter Rachel moved to London in 2005 and has supported respected artists such as Ocean Colour Scenes' Simon Fowler. Recent times have seen the mainstream songstress ply her own brand of laidback acoustic pop around a number of venues to promote this, her debut EP. All five tracks have been penned by Button with help from Ronan Keating guitarist Steve Ling who also takes on acoustic guitar duties on this release. Proceedings kick off with "Worst Enemy" which points to Button's reliance on God and recognises the fact that our sinful nature keeps us from the Lord. Other faith references are more subtle and the prodigal song "The Lost Daughter" and the title track can be easily be interpreted on either a spiritual or more generic level thus allowing Button's work to appeal to both Christian and mainstream markets. Button's kooky side comes to the fore in the upcoming single "Coach E" - a song that takes its inspiration from a train journey - which showcases Button's ability to charm through her upbeat take on life and an endearing vocal performance. A solid start from an artist with plenty of potential.
