Born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Liberian parents Queyonoh (pronounced Queena) was working on this album for around six years before it finally being released in 2014. It is very much a life journey in music. The title track was written after what Qeeyonoh has reported to be the hardest time in her life, her divorce. Her voice delivers the experience with a positive message of overcoming ("there's a purpose in all the pain") over a gentle beat. "Silhouette" enters more gospel territory with the gentle feel continuing - until track six, "He's Been Good Rough" where the pace picks up considerably before slowing again, which better suits her voice. Queyonoh started singing in elementary school and her phrasing demonstrates the years of practise she has invested into her music while the songs manage to balance deep matters yet remaining reasonably catchy, which is a difficult thing to achieve. Overall, a good release.
