Tiffany Arbuckle Lee has consistently made top notch pop rock albums over the past 20 years while her ventures into the dance music scene with a bevy of remixes has brought her success in clubland. 'Beautifully Broken' sees the singer/songwriter maintaining her ability to deliver top quality albums. Lyrically, these are songs reveal a vulnerable side to her life which she manages to communicate. There are plenty of catchy pop tunes but the pop sounds are balanced with her breathy vocals, dramatic pauses and explosive choruses. The album opens with the title cut which sets the theme musically and lyrically and sees Plumb marrying disappointment and hope. I love the musical vibe of "Fight For You" which draws on the lessons she has learned from her own marriage. I do miss the alternative rock forays of her early albums but there are still moments here where she touches on that earlier style, most notably on the emptiness captured on "Somebody Loves You" with its subsequent pointing towards God. She also gets creative on "Acrobat" and these are two moments on the album that are really worth checking out. My hope is that in future releases now she is independent that she will stretch out even further creatively.
