Both with roots in a traditional rough, raw and angry punk rock these two bands blend well together on this 10 track Thumper Punk split album. The more polished performance comes from Jimmy Sisco and Platoon 1107 with six short, abrasive cuts. Never lacking in energy, he delivers cutting comments on topics such as politics, false preachers and terrorists. Guitars rasp and drums fire like machine guns through the catchy "For God, For Family, For Country" and the rerecorded "And Of Heaven And Hell". A more rough and ready production can be heard on The Cants' offerings. A muddy mix makes picking out lyrics difficult, thus leaving the convoluted song titles (eg, "A Charismatic Robot With An Agenda") a mystery. Having said this, the tunes are a little more accessible and have an old school feel to them. Described by the record label as "heavy, rock'n'roll hardcore punk. . . not for the faint of heart", the entire recording comes in at around 18 minutes and therefore offers a brief but enjoyable mix of two talented bands that will satisfy all lovers of punk, old and new.
