Planetshakers is a huge annual youth conference that takes place in Australia and the Planetshakers albums are packed with worship songs for the event. What does it sound like? Imagine a hybrid that amalgamates elements of early Sonicflood, the Soul Survivor sound and Hillsong United Live and you get an immediate idea. If you like anthemic guitar-driven worship in the styles I've mentioned then you'll love this. The opening cut "Open Up The Gates" has all the energy of Sonicflood's debut album and "It's All About Jesus" is a gorgeous worship ballad. Planetshakers chief mover and errr shaker is Henry Seeley who certainly knows how to write a rollicking guitar-driven praise song and there's no doubting that this ministry is making its mark down under. This studio album is also miles better than the previous live recording but still I long for something that sounds more distinctive and original. That quibble aside, much here to get stuck into!
