This CD has got a very hard attitude and street style of music, though the Florida-based rapper seems to be a very spiritual man, a forceful believer laying hold of the Kingdom of Heaven (like in Matthew 11 v 12). The CD includes a track where he tells some of his personal story. Each track is made up of a sequence of serious sounding minor chords, looped over and over again. The rapping, vocals and sound quality are good, but the repetitive loops show lack of originality. Pettidee tries to fill this void with his huge personality and, to an extent, succeeds. The track "Come Wit' Dat Fire" is a powerful prayer and I can certainly feel the presence of God on it. There are good spiritual lyrics throughout the album, but the delivery is not for the faint-hearted. I think this album is inspired by the wild and untameable side of our creative God.

Product Description
Growing up on the streets of Jacksonville has given Pettidee much to address through his music, and Thug Love gives listeners a deeply personal viewpoint into his life, music and ministry. It is impossible to ignore the message in the songs, Pettidee has made sure of that. His musical style is gritty, born in a brutal gang environment but ultimately redeemed and renewed. In the midst of a torn childhood and a broken life, God touched Pettidee’s life and brought him out of the struggle slowly but surely. With such a powerful testimony, Pettidee is confident in his life’s work and isn’t afraid to say so: 'I’ve always been aggressive and I’m gonna do what God has called me to do… my purpose is to show you the love of Christ. I want to be like Elijah, encouraging other people and standing up for God. I’ve made up my mind to never give up.'

There’s no doubt that Thug Love will communicate Pettidee’s message with a calculated vengeance. 'Thug Love was my very first album where I critiqued my lyrics by letting other people analyse them. I was initially offended by outside critcism but after getting over that the album just began to flow. From that point on I made up my mind that this album was going to the next level. I focussed more lyrically, rewrote songs and nitpicked the beats,' explains Pettidee. In short, this album is a top-notch effort the whole way through.
