Fans of hip-hop are mostly divided into two camps, supporters of "underground" hip-hop (which at its best still retains an authentic streetwise vibrancy but at its worst is little more than dull rants over minimalist drum machine accompaniments) or "commercial" hip-hop (which at its best brings in song vocal hooks to make it accessible to a wider pop audience and at its worst waters down hip-hop's earthy appeal). Impressively, Florida's Pettidee - one of the pioneers of Christian crunk - manages to fuse underground and commercial elements and the result is hugely impressive. This album, which is really a compilation from independent releases mixed up with some new material, has huge radio appeal. Indeed four songs, the powerful "Static", the clever warning against pre-marital sex "No Wed, No Bed", the searing "Blood Shed" and the autobiographical "My Life", have all been selected for Cross Rhythms radio exposure. One of the best hip-hop releases of last year.

Product Description
It’s hard to overlook an artist at the top of their game. It’s even harder not to take a wide-eyed all-out immersion into an artist’s career when they are bringing it like Beatmart Recordings’ artist Pettidee.
Turning out the most influential southern hip-hop (or ‘crunk’) today, Pettidee is not only a top selling and highly sought-after performer, his body of work reaches the masses through many facets of the recording industry.
'Resurrections: Past, Present And Future' is a masterpiece from one of the most creative minds in the industry. The album boasts a double-disc with disc 1 featuring ten new tracks representing the ‘Present and Future’ sounds of Pettidee. Disc 2 brings to light the original 'Resurrections' album that defined this artist as one of the pioneers of crunk before it ever garnered mass appeal to the audience of Pettidee faithful.
I really like the raw energy of the music on No wed no bed.
Because of this I share the reviewer's assessment of Pettidee's work/creativity and intend to check out more of his material.
