Nevland is an American-born poet and communicator who in the past has toured the UK both as Spoken Groove and under his own name. He is clearly a man of passion who speaks rhymes over a groove and is often likened to Shaggy from Scooby Doo. Peter's abilities and skills go way beyond a fictitious cartoon character (although his impression is very good!). This album is entertaining ("Song About Nothing"), challenging ("For Lacy"), thought-provoking ("Sometimes I Can See The Future") amusing ("I Drink The Crazy Juice", "The Most Awesome Sound In The World") and more. Peter speaks his pieces as Paul Finley plays acoustic guitar. "Shameless Art" which mixes the "I surrender all" hook with poems that speak of God's love, is powerful, haunting and inspiring - as is "Would You Come With Me" where Peter's groove rolls with the beat. "Stratospheric Airplane Blues" is a piece of powerful prose. A standout (and non-political) track is "Do Not Trust Barack Obama" where Peter questions who we put our trust in. At times, Peter's focus is solely upwards to God - as in "For You To Come". Nevland mixes humour, the message of God and moving prose with wry intelligence.
