Welcome to the world of Paul Wright and MC-reggae pop rock (is there really such a world?). With similar rhythmic tendencies that put him in the same club as mainstream's Jack Johnson, Wright has jumped on the right train. The difference between the two is Wright's more hip-hop, R&B flavoured choruses evident on most tracks. Paul Wright is the diverse MC that TobyMac wants to be. Toby himself endorses Paul as ".a singer, a poet, an MC who shoots threes better than me." Whatever that means! "Hey, Mr DJ Man" starts out declaring "Hey Mr DJ Man, spin that record one time/We are goin' rock it!" and doesn't stop till everyone in da club be movin'. This EP is a treat (fo' sho!). Wright has the right stuff to keep you interested. The musical and lyrical interludes are a little too long on some songs, keeping you waiting. Some space fillers are welcome, like the ocean and thunder ambient noise on "Wonderful Creator", a worshipful, reflective ballad, accenting Wright's voice and quiet guitar. Fans of TobyMac and Jack Johnson will eat up Wright's creative and diverse stylings. This EP is just a taste of what is to come, with Gotee Records picking him up to release the upcoming album 'Fly Away'.
