Northern Irish worship leader Paul Silcock returns 10 years after "Precious Child" with his third album, this time with a team of producers on board in the form of Ian White (Little Misty Music), Graeme Duffin (guitarist with Wet Wet Wet) and Sandy Jones. Paul presents us here with 11 songs, seven self-penned and the other four contributed by Ian White and David Lyon. What immediately characterises the songs is their psalm-like quality - a mix of reverent wonder at who the "Wondrous Lord" is and the honest self-evaluation of "Here I Am Again." Lyrically every song is excellent, with deep, meaningful content to both draw the listener in worship, as in the beautiful "Speak Into The Silence," and challenge to action, as in the mission-focussed "Untold Millions." Musically, the benefits of the quality production team are obvious in the way the songs hang together stylistically, and the fresh, uncluttered sound has a poise that doesn't come without hard work and skill. A lot of thought has gone into the placement of parts in the mix, the rich backing vocals and meticulous guitar work being particularly worth noting. In terms of style comparisons the people who readily came to mind were Chris Tomlin, Chris Rice and a hint of the reflection of John Michael Talbot. In summary, an excellent release and highly recommended both in terms of the music and the message.
