Back in the '90s, Pam was signed to Word Records and had a high profile international ministry. Her inspirational pop music was founded on a strong sense of calling and ministry and from time to time I did wonder what had happened to her. After she and the label went separate ways, she more or less disappeared here in the UK. Now at last she re-appears with a strong new set produced by her husband Stephen Marshall. The sound has been updated for the 21st century but the message remains as strong as ever. From the inspirational pop rock of the opener "Time To Rise" through the swampy funky "Burdens Are Lifted" to the rock out "Help Lord", there's plenty here to grab the attention. Pam's fine voice still swells and sounds strong whether she's emoting a ballad or blasting an upbeat number. Uplifting stuff like her version of "It Is Well", original material like "Magnify The Lord" and "Hallelujah Praise The Lord" work particularly well and the album closes with the inspiring "Love The Lost" where Pam and hubby duet. This is the way inspirational pop should sound with a gutsy call to pursue God more deeply rather than the sugary pap that passes for inspirational in much of Nashville.
