The fifth release since 1991 from the Finnish lady, and on this one she has the assistance of, amongst others, her long-time songwriting partner and manager Gerrit aan't Goor, Frank van Essen of Iona on drums, percussion and (on one track) violin, and arguably Holland's best-known CCM artist, Ralph van Manen, on production and backing vocals. Nina's forte is mood music, so there's no happy clappy triumphalist stuff here; instead, thoughtful songs from a Christian perspective that connect on such topics as family roots, love, faith, wisdom and the rat race. Her professed musical influences (James Taylor, The Carpenters, Jennifer Warnes, Stevie Wonder) are all there if you listen closely, Ralph's production is exemplary, and two interesting pieces are "A Little Bit", a Eurovision Song Contest entry in 1999, and "I Do Believe", new words to the tune that's Finland's unofficial second National Anthem, Sibelius' 'Finlandia'. Not the sort of music to have on in the background; this demands a careful listen.
