Nigel Soyer is a native of Trinidad who now lives in Canada and he's been making music for over 10 years in a style that's a mix of soul, hip-hop and R&B. Unfortunately this CD sounds a tad dated (think The Winans/Commissioned circa 1990). Having said that his warm, vibrant voice is never less than attractive and I enjoyed the dash of Caribbean rhythms and dance hall grooves. I often have problems reviewing material that is culturally on a different planet from my middle-class honkie European mindset - not so in this case. This is something that I would cheerfully shove in the in-car CD player and boogie on down even if it isn't from the R&B gospel top drawer.
