This is a first national release from a four-piece from Columbus, Ohio. It's lively guitar-based radio friendly rock pop. Thematically the record is intended to "begin with a reflection of the past, and moves into a more mature view of true love, and how we often fight against it." So we open with "Temporary Tattoo" and "Yearbook" before touching on more mature themes. Musically and vocally it all sounds very familiar, but I can't put my finger on the band these guys remind me of. As the album continues on, the vocals are varied to include spoken vocals and (even) a bit of semi-operatic emoting. Overall though I found myself looking for something on 'Old School' to set this apart from the rest, and didn't really find it. With so many young pop rock bands vying for the CD purchaser's dollar New Method will need a stronger set than this to register nationally.
