I think this is the first time I've reviewed a CD from Honolulu! It certainly captures the infectious spirit of a live worship experience with its catchy pop melodies. Some of the time, however, the material, sincere as I'm sure that is, comes across as generic Christian pop, probably effective in worship, but unexceptional for personal listening. The third track "Angels Sing" does lift things out of the ordinary with its strong vocals - "You breathe mercy/You know I love you". "Victory" and "Praise The Lord" veer towards the rock end of the pop spectrum with driving rhythms and solid vocals. "How We Worship" has the first hint of Hawaiian flavour - with a native prayer and prominent ukulele, while effective percussion and the soulful vocal puts it in anthem territory. I wish the album had much more of this local flavour to make it more distinctive.
