Released in 2003, 'A Look Inside' gives a look inside the personal life of 31 year old Australian singer/songwriter Nathan Tasker and his relationship with God. His PR claims that "he has the knack of capturing a moment of clarity in a song where the human and the divine intersect." In a memorable recording (with bonus live concert CD) Nathan gives us the gift of God in music. The track "He Has Washed Us" is beautifully crafted communicating the gospel message in a wholly uplifting way. His wide reading shows on "I Was There", inspired by a quote garnered from John Stott's book The Cross Of Christ and his song captures the essence of Peter Green's assertion that "Only a man who is prepared to own his share in the guilt of the cross may claim his share in its grace." Attributing the influence of Michael Card on his writing, performing and lifestyle, his rendering of Card's "The Final Word" is neat. Card himself believes that his work "will feed the Church for many years to come". The style of the song "Floating" reminds me of Jars Of Clay. On his song "Divine Relationship" Tasker sings, "So many times I have unlatched this case which holds my guitar to play the songs he's let me catch to sing of such a treasure." With over 1500 public performances ministering the message of Christ in music to schools, churches, conventions and prisons, Nathan is fulfilling the task of "sharing a beautiful and believable Jesus" very ably. Playing acoustic guitar together with a wide range of musicians (15 in all), the fact that this is his sixth album and I had not heard of him before compels me to take a further look inside the man's music.
