After learning his trade in the Dallas Fort Worth Choir along side Kirk Franklin and having worked with him on some of his projects you would expect Myron to know how to make good music. This won't disappoint you. If you expect a Franklin clone though then you'll be in for a surprise. Myron's style is much more soulful and rooted in traditional gospel with little of the hip-hop influences that you'll find in the superstar's music - more in tune with other artists that Myron Butler has worked alongside such as Antonio Neal, Kim Burrell and Smokie Norful. Although this is only his second solo release there is a class to both Butler's singing and his songwriting that would make you believe that he's been effortlessly doing this for years. The recording was done before a live audience in what seems like a very small venue with a very small stage and given the number of musicians and singers on that stage none of them has much room to move around. So what we're left with is basically a bunch of folks stood in a line singing the songs - which doesn't make for the most scintillating viewing that you'll ever see. Given that this is musically very good if I were you I'd simply buy the CD and give the DVD a miss.
