This live album was recorded at The Voice nightclub in 1996. 1 have a number of Modification studio albums all superior to this one. but to be fair, very few live thrash albums work for me. The let down on this album is twofold: the "live" crowd - I've heard more noise from a bowl of Rice Kmpies: and the limited sound quality if you play it very loud - but maybe I have a duff copy. The album is a hotchpotch of styles. echoing the changes thai Mortification have experienced over the last 10 years: the driving drums of Keith Bannister, the growling bass (and vocals) of Steve Rowc and the slick axe work of Lincoln Bowen on "Mephiboshcth". the ethnic punk of "Primitive Rhythm Machine" and the standard thrash of "New Beginnings" from the "Break The Curse" album. After enthusiastic versions of "Grind Planetarium" and "Bloodworld". Steve Rowc addresses the crowd and lays a potted Gospel on them. This is not the best Mortification album as I have indicated, but it is a collectable for any Mortification fan: I would buy it just to support the band as they continue to lake ihe Gospel to the virtually unreached. and to support Steve Rowe in his battle againsl leukaemia.
