Reviewed by Tom Lennie As one of the main worship leaders at Kansas City's International House Of Prayer, Ms Edwards has come to increased prominence with the release in 2008 of her double-recording, 'Relentless', an outstanding expression of vibrant originality, and by appearances on God TV in connection with the recent "Healing Outpouring" being experienced by that Kansas Prayer centre. I confess I was expecting this subsequent recording to be a direct follow-up to 'Relentless', and thus to continue with the same prophetic passion and dynamic creativity. Instead, 'Points Of Life' is deliberately a more reflective disc, the songs a bit more ponderous and less potent than the forebear. Nevertheless, a similar creativity and experimentation in sounds is to be found. "My Soul Cries" and "i24", in particular, hold a definite quirky and arresting edge. Backed generally by a variety of keyboard, guitar and percussion sounds, Misty's warm, though at times intense, vocals carry the listener through an eight track, 36 minute set, consisting of five of her own compositions and three penned by "friends", who include fellow worship-songwriter, JoAnn McFatter, and Dave Wiens, who is responsible for much of the instrumental energy that attends these tunes. Misty and friend's lyrics are thoughtful, spiritual (two are Biblical Psalms), and above all, expressions of yearning and intimacy to the Father, Son and Spirit. An interesting and inspiring album, well worthy of investigation.
