Miss Angie is obviously cornering the market for strange album titles. After her amazing debut 'One Hundred Million Eyeballs' she gives us 'Triumphantine'. Things have changed rather a lot in the time since the debut. For starters ,she's now Mrs Angie and her hubbie Oran Thornton again produced the record alongside here brother Shawn Turner and Dan Fritz so the Johnny Q Public connection continues. The new songs are less immediate than the previous release because Angie has gone for a denser rock 'n' pop sound but her sense of melody is still strong once you delve deeply into this pool of delights. Personally, I love the little bits of Doors-style organ that twiddle away incessantly on the fun 'Dancing In My Head' and then reappear with more sinister intent on the brilliant 'Getcha'. '2222' sets the exhortation in 2 Tim 2 v 22 to a bed of powerpop music and a typically floating Angie vocal reminiscent of Blondie! A good consolidating step forward but Angie falls foul of 'second album syndrome' where this is a great album but not quite the classic we were expecting. Also, chocking in at 31 minutes in length, the album is criminally short!
