Minister Taf is a Jamaican-born rapper who is now based in the UK and this collection does what its title suggests by communicating the word of God - all done in no messing fashion. Mainly targeting those seeking thrills through drugs, sex and fame, Taf gets straight to the point in each song to tell of the difference his Lord has made in his own life and the need for others to accept Jesus as their Saviour. The wordplay and delivery found on the release's 17 tracks is of a generally high calibre although odd haphazard lines such as "like Bonnie and Clyde in da vehicle/I'm-a stay close to you like crazy glue" in "God Business" fall short of the mark. Taf's chosen subgenre of hip-hop seems to be grime and, whilst its minor key setting and mid-paced tempo add the required gravitas to the cautionary message found within, sticking to the one style means that proceedings do get a bit repetitive quite early on. The lack of variety is made even more surprising given that a total of seven different producers are involved and the talented rapper and his team could do well by mixing things up a little by trying out different of styles of hip- hop.
