Mike is an important figure in taking worship songs, charismatic evangelicals take for granted today, into the Catholic church. Here you get an attractively preĀsented fourteen song worship album sold in aid of charity. As well as praise and worship standards ("Such Love", "Hosanna", "Rejoice Rejoice") there are a couple of American Jesuit songs and five songs from Walsall-based Mike. Stylistically the album is consisĀtent, offering generally meditative, acoustic dominated arrangements. I've heard Mike sing before on a folk album of his and his pleasant voice works well here. Sadly the album is seriously marred by inconsistent production. Mike can obviously sing in tune, yet there are several occasions on which he is disturbingly out. The same is true of the usually attractive flute. I know there are all sorts of reasons for turning a blind eye to such lapses, a tight studio budget, limited time etc, but in this case it has spoiled an otherwise reasonably attractive recording
