Philadelphia-based Wes Pendleton and Taelor Grey have teamed up to form Middle Clash. As a duo, they caused interest when they issued a new track on line every week for six weeks. Their work together is something quite special, full of faith and yearnings for more delivered with impressive flows. An example is "Fade Away" which skilfully intertwines prayer ("Tell me what to say") with observations of being stuck in a world "where nothing satisfies you" over a gentle beat. Other tracks such as "Soul Glow" are commercial with a great summer feel while "Find You" features guest Christon Grey. This Deluxe version also includes instrumental backing tracks of five songs from the album, which to my mind don't add much to the project. However, such is the strength of the six songs (and four remixes) here that 'Middle Clash' deserves its high rating.
